Swim, connect, make a difference

A family pool party with T1D life built into the rhythm.

Join T1D families, friends, and community members for an afternoon of swimming and connection. Short required pool exits every 15 minutes create predictable pauses for families to check blood sugars, reach supplies, or treat a low if needed.

MIDEA underwrites the event. Donations go directly to Breakthrough T1D, with a suggested gift of $25 per attendee and the option to give more. A donation is not required to attend.

What the party looks like

Everything families need for an easy pool afternoon.

1 hour 20 minutes

Dedicated swimming time, plus party-area time before the event wraps up.

Required 15-minute exits

Goldfish-approved pool exits create predictable moments for family care needs.

Life jackets available

Children do not need to know how to swim. A No Stress Swim Test may be used.

Changing and showers

Poolside showers, individual changing areas, and seating for non-swimmers.

Family-centered pace

Bring preferred diabetes supplies, low treatments, backups, and a wet bag.

Meet the venue

A warm, family-focused swim school.

Goldfish provides lifeguard coverage, life jackets for swimmers who need them, poolside showers, individual changing areas, and seating for non-swimming caregivers. Swimmers may be asked to complete a brief No Stress Swim Test.

Care stays with each family

Bring the supplies and treatments that work for you.

No diabetes medical care is provided. Families remain responsible for checks, devices, treatments, supplies, and medical decisions.

MIDEA may provide snacks that can be used for lows if allowed, but families should bring preferred low treatments and backups.

Required pool exits are a scheduling accommodation, not medical monitoring or supervision.

One household, one result

Register for the pool party

Add everyone attending, designate an in-pool parent or legal guardian when children will swim, and use one attendee signature for the separate MIDEA and Breakthrough T1D waivers. You will immediately receive either a confirmation or a whole-household waitlist result.

One simple household registration

Register everyone attending with you

Households stay together. Registration is first come, first served. If the whole household cannot fit, everyone will be placed on the waitlist together.

Frequently asked questions

Does my child need to know how to swim?

No. Anyone who cannot swim will be provided a life jacket. Each swimmer may be asked to complete a short No Stress Swim Test to see whether they can swim the width of the pool.

Does a parent or guardian need to be in the pool?

Yes. At least one parent or legal guardian must be in the pool, not only poolside, and must supervise their children. Every supervising adult in the water counts toward the pool limit.

What should we bring?

Bring swimsuits, goggles, dry clothes, towels, a wet bag, and all necessary diabetes supplies, including preferred low treatments and backups. Pool toys are not needed.

What happens during the pool exits?

Goldfish has approved short required pool exits every 15 minutes so families can check blood sugars, access supplies, or treat lows if needed. Goldfish staff will direct each exit and re-entry.

Will diabetes medical care be provided?

No. Families remain responsible for diabetes care, checks, supplies, low treatments, devices, and all medical decisions. Any snacks supplied by MIDEA are a convenience only and are not medical care.

Are donations required to attend?

No. The suggested donation is $25 for each attendee, swimming or not, with the option to give more. Donations are optional, and private attendance support is available if cost is a barrier.

Where do donations go?

All donations go directly to Breakthrough T1D through its fundraising page. MIDEA underwrites event costs and does not collect registration payments or attendee donations.

Which waivers are required?

Three separate waiver processes apply. During registration, every attendee completes the separate MIDEA waiver and Breakthrough T1D Waiver of Liability and Photo/Video Release with one electronic signature. Adults sign for themselves; a parent or legal guardian signs for a minor. The Goldfish venue waiver remains separate.
